Sad to report we won’t be publishing the SiP Omnibus this year. With the economy affecting all my business partners—shops and distributor—it’s just not the right time for an expensive collection, no matter how cool. Pick your moments, as they say. And although I have the book near completion, now is not a good time for my partners to try and commit to a $150 book. I’ll have to wait. Thing is, we let the trades go out of print, anticipating the pocket edition in its softcover format as the replacement. So, for the foreseeable future, the SiP series will be available in pocket editions only. Patience.
There’s a new, long interview with me posted at Comic Geek Speak. This is the fourth in a series discussing each SiP pocket book in detail. If you want to hear the previous 3 episodes, you can search within their site and find them easy enough.
I’m nearing the end of the art work for Echo 12 and I solicited issue 15 with Diamond last week. We’re moving along!
There’s an interesting post explaining why Casey is the unsung hero of SiP. I find it hard to argue with her!
Indy actress Julie Kerr tells me of a sip tshirt sighting in her new film Geek Loves Punk.
I read that essay on Casey the day after it was posted through some sort of serendipity that I was just searching for SIP content online. I think it’s a very well phrased argument; hard to disagree with. However, I still think there are other interpretations that I find more apt. Either way, well worth the read.
I’m still really bummed about the omnibus not going forward right now, but that makes sense and from my perspective it’s fine because I can still read the whole saga any time that I wish. The omnibus is really something that’s special, something to cherish, and I can be patient for something like that.
And lastly, the scarycow.com link is goofed up, but try this, and then look for “Geek Loves Punk”…

Thanks Jonathan!
Hi Terry, It is a pity that the omnibus will not be published this year, but who knows maybe in the near future?
I also read that essay on Casey, I am so glad that there are more people who think, that Casey is more than just eye candy.
Casey was from the moment that she arrived in the story, the character who caused the most heated words on the old “SiP and Stranger than Paradise” web sites in the period 1997 to 2002.
I was always an avid Casey supporter, she always brought hope and sense to what other wise would have been a very depressing story line.
My passion for this character means that I bought three original artworks of Casey. Plus Terry was kind enough to sketch Casey in the fly leaf of each of the hard covers.
I’m excited about the SiP omnibus. However, waiting seems like a good decision. Just keep producing more Echo… please.
Sorry to hear about the Omnibus postponement, Terry ! It’s about time for me to start a read through the pocket books again to experience the SiP magic all over again !
I too, am sad about the loss of the omnibus, but as long as it’s still a potential for next year… I can wait to buy my longed-for SiP collection.
Echo is a good substitute, but I’m one for the classics, too!
One of the many amazing achievements of SiP was the way Casey transformed from a stereotypical dumb blonde stock character into a living human and from someone who annoyed me to my favorite character in the story.
How did you do that?
I fell in love with her.
I’ve always been an ardent defender of Casey! That was a wonderful article, putting into words feelings I didn’t even realize I had about her. I’d love to see her Tweets. No, that’s not a euphemism.
I read SIP in pocket book format beginning to end. It’s a great way to get the story. I’d probably prefer pocket book format to others. It feels just right.
I’m happy to have a bit more time to save the cash for an omnibus. Will the Omnibus be in full color? I know most of the series was drawn to allow for color to be added. I have all the original issues, cept the first two issues of the mini, I have a few trade paperback, one of the pocket books and all of the complete editions. Hmm, So if I was logical I’d actually have to wait till the series is in color.
