Remember Erika, the girl from Brazil who did such a beautiful job coloring one of my posted drawings? She’s back and more powerful than ever, this time painting on the brand new Mary Jane issue 5 cover art. Wow, wow, and wow some more. Beautiful! Visit her website and let her know she’s a very talented addition to the planet.

We have found 25 copies of hardcover #10 for Strangers In Paradise. The technical title is, The Complete Strangers In Paradise Volume III, Part Eight.

This is the final book in the series. FYI, the ten hardcovers are not being kept in print. Once one is sold out, that’s it. We thought we were sold out of this one, but Diamond found a box in their warehouse and we grabbed it (picture a scuffle with ripped shirts and one lost shoe) for the SiPstore!

I’m just speechless, words can’t express how happy and proud I am with your words. I love your work very much, and it means a lot for me, thank you very very much =)
Damnation, that is gorgeous looking. I intellectually know, as well as have repeatedly learned in the past, what an impact adding color has to a black-and-white piece, but it seems like on almost every occasion I underestimate how it will look in color.
That looks truly awesome, Erika.
One of the things I’ve learned over the last few years is how much foresight goes into the art of people like Humberto Ramos and Craig Rousseau. Their line art is made with color in mind. The art itself has many different looks but when color is added you realize the lines were put there for that purpose. It’s different than drawing for line art only. I probably didn’t say that correctly, but… anyway, there’s a difference. You really see it when you see the line art of the Marvel artists then the color version. I noticed this because most of my SiP art hasn’t colored well — the earlier the worse. It bothered me and was a puzzle for numerous years. It’s a lesson I learned by working with others who were better. There’s a good tip: Always work with people better than you.
Hi there, it’s me, one of those friends from Erika. I think this is one of her best works yet. Of course, this is much easier working on such great art as yours. An since we’re taliking about the comic, I read the first story and it’s just lovely, mary jane is just gorgeous, and all other characters are fantastic.
Awesome job Erika! That looks gorgeous. I’m working on a color version myself. The colors you chose for Mary Jane’s outfit are nearly identical to the ones I’m using. Hopefully I’ll have another sleepless night this week so I can finish my rendition.
The way Terry drew those bunny slippers is soooo cute – very Miyazaki-esque. Speaking of Hayao Miyazaki, a global community of artists, including Charles Vess, have banded together to create a collection of original art which will be used to raise funds for the Totoro Forest Project. http://totoroforestproject.org/
Well done Erika, your color work is just fantastic!!!!!
Terry I do hope that no BUNNIES were hurt in the making of those slippers?
