Okay, I haven’t said anything, but there is an easter egg in the latest issue, and so far as I can tell, only one reader has found it. So I’ll give you a hint: something in Echo 3 should send you running to your computer. Hurry, before it’s too late!
Here’s a cool review of Echo 3 from TheComicCollective.com
David Schwartz was the first person to subscribe to Echo. Because that should be like winning the lotto, and because he’s been reading my work since the days of antiquity, I’m going to send him something extra in his mail-out. Maybe a Mini Cooper… or a sketch. Or a sketch of a Mini Cooper. Or a sketch of a Mini Cooper running over a sketch.
Jonathan commented about the doll the little girl (Julie, BTW) is holding on the cover to Echo 6. “Is that a Bik & Beep doll?” Yes! What a great idea. I’m going to draw more Bik & Beeps, just so I can make the dolls. They’d be fun to play with. Very therapeutic— acting out your male-female frustrations, bashing them into each other— both the good kind of bashing and the bad. Dolls for grown-ups. I’ll work on that.

Are you coming to Toronto’s FanExpo in August? —Tiff
Unfortunately, no. I like Toronto though.
Is it just me or does Julie’s husband look suspiciously like Tambi? like from the side, front, 3/4ths view… —Jetgirl
It’s just you. Miss her, huh? Casey sent me some pics last week of the two of them on a camping trip. They both looked great, but Tambi looked like a greek goddess… tan, very fit, happy. Just thought you’d like to know.
The con sketches in the previous post were scans the owners sent me. Here are a few more of the sketches I did at Supercon, only these are pics from my iPhone. Not so hot in the quality dept., but at least you can see the art. This first one is, hmm, can’t recall her name. Some obscure character whose book I don’t get to draw.

This one is supposed to be Fathom. Doesn’t look anything like her. But she’s pretty and she’s wet. Close enough.

This is the frontispiece in Jonathan’s sketchbook. I like the way Francine and Katchoo’s hair intertwines. This could have been a cover in the series.

Have you ever wondered what I do on the internet when I have to take a break from comics? Do I troll for news articles about myself, or peep at porn, or carouse the cat forums, or paste hair on all my photos in photoshop? Eeeh, no, but all those sound like terrific ideas. If you want to know the dirt, I surf the net for any and all info on guitars. Specifically, the undisputed Holy Grail of guitars, the 1957-1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard. Only about 1800 were made. Nothing else sounds like them. Every one a handmade work of art. Cost $385 new. Now they’re about $250,000 and by the time we’re all old they’ll cost a million. In short, they are the Stradivarius of electric guitars. So, I told you that so I could show you this… a wonderful pic I found… a 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard in mint condition with all the papers it came with, including the protective wrapping paper on the guitar. Unbelievable! If you’re a SiP/Echo fan, and you have an extra one of these under the bed, and uh, *ahem* you want free sketches for life…

So there. Now you know my dirty little secret.
Okay, back to sanity. I’m inking the cover to Echo 4 today. Here is the pencil. I’ll post the ink when I’m done. Wish me luck.

I’ve read the blog for a while, but first time poster. Surprisingly there was another Jonathan here already it seems (glad that you spell it correctly!) I should differentiate. Anyway, I’m pretty sure I know the “easter egg” you’re talking about.
(umm, possible spoiler, I suppose?)
Anyway, I wanna see what the site looked like before the Office of Nuclear Security took it down!
I agree though, more Bik and Beep!
At least 2 readers have found the easter egg. I tried to report it earlier, but I believe my email may have been intercepted by the O.N.S.
Terry, I am so happy you took and posted that photo of the wonderful sketch you did in my book! I went and gave it back to the same artist who has had it since SD 2007 at the end of my time at Super-Con…. without even getting a pic of it myself! So the one you posted is the only reminder I have until I get my book back at SD 2008! Thanks! And thanks again for doing it!~;)
oh, and a belated “Hi” to Jonathan D! I’m glad YOU spell it correctly!~;)
I’m assuming the egg is the website? I went and looked after one of the other commenters mentioned it. It is cool! I love stuff like that.
Cute easter egg.
Love the cover of Echo #4! Can’t wait to read it…things are heating up.
I figured you probably weren’t coming to the FanExpo, but I can dream, can’t I? Maybe next year? =)
I would not surprise me if there really was a; Section 535.100.3 of the International WWW codes and privacy act.
Terry,
The picture of the ‘60 LP? Cruel, man. Extremely cruel.
Glad to know I’m not the only one who searches the internet for guitars in their free time. I often have dreams where I’m able to go back in time and muddle around. But, do I purchase stocks or classic cars? Nope. I buy old Gibson and Fender guitars.
Then I wake up and try to figure out where I would store them so my present self could get at them. It’s an odd fantasy.
Question is though, if you did have the Les Paul, what dream amp would you want to plug it into?
Hey Terry,
First I have to give you the usual fan treatment and tell you that, in all honesty, the women and men of SIP have changed my life and views on the world, the universe and everything. For that I’ll be eternally grateful.
Furthermore I’m reeeeally looking forward to getting a copy of Echo into my hands, but even though I love dear ol’ Switzerland, it sucks comic-wise cause you – well, I – got to wait for like ever till I get anything good. But I trust it won’t be long.
Anyway, thanks for being who you are. Live long and prosper.
Morgane
If the easter egg was the website, which has now been “found in violation of federal law” (yikes), I wonder what it was like before it was taken down! Does anybody know?
Keep up the good work! Love it!
Lol, I miss the good ol Tabmi who would show up to your house and leave it in flames. Thanks to that issue I know how to make martinis. ^_^
