Echo Subscriptions Starting NOW

Okay, we’ve decided to start taking subscriptions for Echo now. You can get on the list by slicking on the Echo icon on our home page, AbstractStudioComics.com or at the SiP store, which gives you the easy-click option. And just a reminder, the store is secure. The secure part kicks in when you click to pay.

It will be fun to see who the first subscriber will be. I’ll let you know if you are.

I spent the day drawing and inking (and inking and inking and inking!) the cover to Echo 6. The ad for this future issue is due Thursday, so drew it up and sent it via ftp to Brian to color. Probably won’t be time for a serious coloring attempt, only flats for the ad, then finish the coloring later in time for the book. Here’s the cover:

I sent B a long vague description of what I thought a post-Atomic blast sunset would look like (like the blast happened at 10:30 that morning and it’s now dusk), then this reference photo I’ve had for many years. I always liked the way this typically white slope looked in this sci-fi light. It’s haunted me for years, so I’m looking forward to seeing Brian’s interpretation.

As for Echo 4, I’m penciling up the first scene. It contains a nice horror element to it.

I did a lot of con sketches last week at Supercon. There are always numerous requests for Supergirl…

And bad, bad, bad, oh my god is this girl baaaaad, Veronica…

That girl’s just not right.
Here’s my favorite because it was a new, fun idea, Katchoo and Francine as Poison Ivy and Harley.

Here’s an interview I did in Barcelona. I’ve got to stop making faces at cameras. Seriously.

An email from Trevor about the SiP Fan Forum:

I wanted to give you an update before you made your next blog entry. Hopefully, this will reach you in time. While at Super-Con you said you would post a permanent link to SiPfans on your blog. (Thanks again for saying you would do that.) Since I last spoke to you, the forum administrator has decided to rename the site. It is now known as The Strangers in Paradise Fan Forum. The reason for the change was to improve the likelihood of finding the site. SiPfans is buried deep within a Google search. Expanding the acronym to the book’s full title should make it easier to find. The site has a new URL as well. The old URL still works, but it will automatically redirect visitors to the new one.

Click on the link below to be directed to the new site.

The Strangers in Paradise Fans Forum
Please link all future SiPfan blog entries and permanent links to this new site.

Another topic I briefly touched upon during your Super-Con visit was updating your Wikipedia entry. I discussed it with Rick (a.k.a. Novemberchild) on the forum, and he agreed to help with the project. My friend Gamine, from Norway, has also agreed to help out. I’ve never updated a Wikipedia entry before. Novemberchild, on the other hand, has some experience. Somehow a guy from Germany, a gal from Norway, and a Californian (California ought to be its own country) are going to attempt to muddle our way through it. I’ll keep you posted as to our progress.

Thanks again. (Gotta run – haven’t picked up ECHO #3 yet).
Trevor Vadeboncoeur a.k.a. Fade2Black on the forum.

I’ve added the link for the forum to the Related Sites list on the right. I do appreciate the SiP Fan Forum. It’s been around for years in one form or another and it would not exist if not for the skill and enthusiasm of dedicated enthusiasts. If you’re interested in learning more about SiP or you just want to meet the kind of people who read SiP (almost always good looking and highly intelligent), the SiP forum is the place to be.

So, is that a Bik and or Beep doll the young lady on the cover of Echo 6 is grasping?! If so, when can I get mine! Thanks for offering the subscription service for Echo! Echo’s great; but I NEED more Bik & Beep strips too! You know, in your “spare time!”~;)

Thank you for providing a permanent link to The Strangers in Paradise Fans Forum on your blog. I need to make a couple of corrections to that email I sent you. First, Gamine is from The Netherlands, not Norway. Hopefully, she can find it in her heart to forgive my mistake before she pays me a visit next month. Fortunately, Gamine is a wonderful human being, and I’m sure she will forgive me… eventually. ;)

The other correction is that I referred to the site as “The Strangers in Paradise Fan Forum”. We subsequently decided to change the name to the more inclusive title “The Strangers in Paradise Fans Forum”. It’s a subtle change, and one that I see you’ve already implemented. Thanks for doing that as well.

I should also take this opportunity to point out that The Strangers in Paradise Fans Forum isn’t just about Strangers in Paradise. ECHO, Runaways, Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, and a plethora of other topics are also discussed.

Oh wow! I’m a bit of the fan forum’s globe trotter, but last time I checked I am still in The Netherlands ;)
