And the NEW series is…

Rachel Beck wakes on damp, soft dirt. Sitting up, she sees a foot sticking up from the ground in front of her. She is sitting on somebody. She is sitting on a shallow grave. Rolling onto her knees she claws the dirt away. It is the body of a woman much like her. The clothes are like hers. The face… it’s her. Dead.

This is the beginning of my new series, RACHEL RISING.

I’ve been a life long fan of horror stories. Not the slasher type, but the scary kind. The kind that gives you a chill on a hot night. I wrote my first short story at age 11, and it was a horror story. With two series in different genres behind me, I think I’m finally ready to go back to my first love and have fun with it.

RACHEL RISING will be an ongoing series. I have a strong cast of new characters that live in Rachel’s town and I think you’re going to get a kick out of meeting them. My stories come from scenes in my head, like a movie. When I can picture scenes I’ve never seen before in any medium, I get very excited. That’s how STRANGERS IN PARADISE and ECHO began, and that’s what happened with this new story. When I thought about ideas for the next series, this is the story that kept me up at night. The scenes in my head are incredible, and I can’t wait to get started!

Of course, there is the not too small matter of one last issue to go in ECHO—issue #30. That final issue will ship in April.

RACHEL RISING #1 will be in stores this July. You heard it here first. Please spread the word for me. I think this is going to be a blast!

  1. Sounds good to me. Would be fun if it were set in the same “universe” as both SiP and Echo were. I am loving Echo and to see little bits of pieces from SiP show up there made it an even more fun read.

  2. As with all your works, I eagerly await the next issue (in this case the first issue).

Best of luck with the new series. Horror is not usually my shtick, but in the right hands it could be.

I look forward to your upcoming return to WonderCon.

    All my best,
    Trevor

  3. Awesome, Terry! Sounds neat. Can’t wait!

Thanks for continuing to tell great stories!!!

  4. Hooray! I love good horror, and it is so rare. With you at the helm, I have not doubt it will be great. I’ll be tuning in from day one and glued!

  5. Exciting! Sounds like a cool premise for a series, July can’t get here fast enough.

  6. I squeeeed and did a little happy dance when I read this!
Can’t wait to see Rachel Rising, and i’ll be sure to post the news on my fan site.

  7. It was damn difficult to get the end of Echo.

The first store where I started my standing order closed down and the store where I am finishing the collection it is going to close down too, but in the meantime they managed to lose some issues that I had to look for in the internet (thank god for ebay).

    Have I had enough?

Nope, I am looking forward for this new adventure that I will buy religiously every month (?).

    Go, Go Power Terry!

  8. Rachel rising sounds interesting, even if horror is so not my thing. But since it’s by you I’ll check it out anyway. ;)

  9. Seeing how excited you are about Rachel Rising, I can’t wait to get a look at the characters and overall look of the comic. As well as see how the story will evolve. So the plan is to have it ready for Comic Con?

    Whoot!!

  10. Terry, that’s so great!!!
I hope that you will be able to keep your humour inside.
I’m also a horror movie fan and I’m not a slasher fan. I hope there will be some common points with Dellamore Dellamorte or others…
    Keep on surprising us :))

  11. I’m not really a horror fan – watching the movies gives me nightmares – but I will be buying Rachel Rising.

I’ll just have to be sure to read it in the morning :)

  13. A new serie (instead of SIP or Echo sequel) is great news and it seems very promising… but Echo tpb 5: Black hole is not available on amazon or bookdepository althought previous tpb were, is it on purpose ? or is there another explanation ?

  14. Excited to see you do something new. I was a late SIP follower, and followed ECHO from the start, and will follow your new work too. Your art is what keeps me coming back for more. I love the characters and smart story behind your work. Love your diversity. Keep up the great works.

  15. As far as Echo: Black Hole on Amazon, we’re trying to work it out with our distributor, Diamond. It’s something they need to do, I cannot.

  18. Sounds great, will be reading it. Sorry to say goodbye to Echo (maybe again someday down the road ?…). It was great meeting you at Megacon last weekend, my daughter is finally reading Echo.
Thanks and take care (maybe see you at Dragoncon)

  19. Terry,
Having been a fan of your work and of good horror, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what you do next. Cool. :)
